Welcome to the 4th Erith Scout Group's Message Board. Here you can leave a message for all to see, maybe you want to tell everyone about how good an activity was, or what you think of this website, or maybe you are from another country and you have stumbled across our site. Whatever the message, they will be read by a member of our leadership team and posted on this page as soon as possible.

G'Day Folks

Just a short message from Down Under. Been here a month now and the weather is still fine the water is cool and the natives are friendly. The boys have joined the local scout group which has a largish hall on the outskirts of town. Of course this being the outback it also has it's own private camping site in a little valley just behind it. They have some interesting ideas for encouraging leader/parent involvement here, but I myself haven't taken the bait yet. The scenery here is fantastic - I'd love to send you a picture for the site if you could show it. Plus I'd appreciate any news of how things are going with the group -
Cheers,
Cliff

The FIRST 4th Erith was one of the earliest Scout Troops founded and, although I can't claim to have been there, it appeared at the first Jamboree in 1910 sporting a Vicker's machine gun, would you believe?

I sent a copy of a photo of it to the GSL a few years ago. But that original group disappeared and the present re-incarnation dates back only to 1940. I don't even know where the original Group ("Troop" as it would then have been called) used to meet.Does anyone know?

And does anyone remember that dreadful "Bosun" fellow who taught us everything he knew (in about an hour) in the eighties? What happened to him?

What a great website. Having looked through some of the camp photos and seen the pictures of me in my younger days, it's bought back some great memories and now I'm 6 weeks away from 30, my memory is beginning to fadeI was a cub and scout for many many years during the 80,90's when Graham Williamson was leader

Would love to hear from anyone that was a member around that time.

I joined 4th Erith in July 1968. My parents were with 5th Erith
(Father, Rover Scout, Bass Drum in the band, etc) & 10th Erith (Lady Cub Master -Wolf Cubs too young to have Mistresses). I left in August 1972 when we moved to Gravesend. I went on to become a Queen's Scout, took various commissioner & trainer appointments and am currently a HQ volunteer specialising in Adult Training.

Hey everyone I am 15 and a tomahawk explorer, I have enjoyed many excursions with the tomahawks, taking part in activities such as absailing, hiking, archery, group games, grass sledging, film making and obviously camping. On camps I have seen the scouts having a good time taking part in activities with us. If you are old enough to join scouts or explorers and would like to try some of the activites I have mentioned you should come down and give the 4th a try.
